i've heard that the cold start assist is actually bad for our cars and that it should be removed. i looked at where the tubing went and what not and was wondering if there it any thing that is needed to be blocked off when reomving this?

Not really sure, but I know this has been discussed here before. Try checking the 2nd gen FAQ, or search the forum for "cold start assist."
