Alright guys, can I use a 86-88 turbo intermediate housing in a N/A block? What's the difference between turbo and n/a ones?

Turbo IIs ARE NOT a 6 port engine, NAs are.

I know, I am just talking about the intermediate piece not the end ones where the secondary ports are.

I can compare the 86-88 NA housing ports to an 89-91 TII lower intake manifold tomorrow. I would check now, but it just started to rain, and all of my parts are in the "garage." I do know that the EGR valve bolts onto the NA housing. So you'd need a blockoff plate for that.

thanks ace, appreciate it :bigok:

Yeah it should work, I am going to run one. The only thing is that the EGR valve has no were to go, so if you have emissions you might want to think of using the old one. The good things about the TII housing is that it has a little bigger ports to start with, and a lot more metal to grind at, if you are going to port it. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Great, that's exactly what I wanted to hear, thanks.

I didn't check my parts because of what Rotaryman RX7 said, but I'll check them out tomorrow for my own amusement. :P

hmm.. now i wonder why more people don't get the turbo one rather than trying to port the N/A one. That way you can have a 6-port motor with a healthy streetport https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

But, i did hear that larger the center port the rougher the idle, true? Not that I care too much about it, just curious.

By the way, i have the 89+ rotors and the engine will be for my GSL-SE. I am still debating on retaining the EFI or getting the RB/Holley set-up. Hoping to have a 180HP 1st gen, woooohooo!

Yeah, the more radical you go on the primaries the rougher things get. That's why some people only bridgeport the secondaries.
