Pulling out the FTP lens will not do anything for cold air getting to the filter. There is too much **** in the way.

I got a K&N filter and adapter on eBay for $35. Brand new, good size filter, shipping was cheap. He has them on there all the time. Just do a search.

Yeah that was what I was thinking! I can't justify spending such amount of money on just a airfilter and an adaptor. (Unless the air filter is REALLY That good!) I've been thinking for a while about grabbing one of those 6$ adaptors on ebay for a while, the only thing that has really stopped me was the question in my original posting, since now I know it really doesn't matter. I think I'll just do what everyone is saying. It just boils down to which has the best breathing capacity. I know the AFM is the biggest bottleneck in the FC's Intake system, so I just want to make sure that the filter I choose doesn't add to that bottleneck.
Yea just snag the adapter and filter off ebay, you can even buy the adapter and K&N filter set on ebay. |

I also have a modified air box cover I can throw in if you want to experiment with it, it has the area covered with the MAZDA sticker cut out. On my NA it made a noticable difference, but the filter got dirty fast. |

Yea I mean if you give me the size I can order any size you want from K&N I just did it for a friend of Turbo II's last week and we get really good pricing from K&N.
Even if you just give me an inlet size I can give the various size and shape options. |
