For some reason my car has gotten to where it wont start up right anymore. When i first start it it will jump up like normal and the rpms start to drop down but instead of waiting to warmup it trys to go straight to idle and then stalls. After its done this a few times it will start up normal and warm up like normal. If i try to hold the gas when i start it the car bogs down alot and starts shaking at 1500+. Also the cat smell is alot worse i used to only smell it at idle now its 10x worse and all the time. So to sum it all up when the engine is cold it will not start right and the cat is smelling real bad. Ill check for vacuum leaks to rule that out but i fixed all them when i got the car.

haha yeah im going to thats part of the work tommorow.

One thing that doesnt make sense with them being the problem is why would it only choke it a few time and then run right afterwards?

well it could be a couple of different things. maybe the thermowax is sticky, the lines can get plugged and then it might be inconsistent. the smell could be the tps, it runs the smog system so if its off the whole emissions system doesnt work right. or it could be something like my 83 where the airpump came apart and got stuck in the acv, causing a vacuum leak, hard for that to be intermittant though

Well i checked the cats already and it doesnt seem to be clogged. I noticed no glowing or anything. Ill check them again after driving the car. Next i'll look for vacuum leaks and then ill check out the tps. It might be the tps out of adjustment i didnt think about that but ive never adjusted it. Ive been meaning to check it and the timing just havent gotten around to it yet.

I cant see a reason to adjust the TPS unless there is another problem with

the car. Did you check for codes and does the car run fine otherwise?

car runs fine otherwise. I havent checked for codes yet, i was trying to check everything today but a thunder storm stopped me. I was able to recheck the vacuum lines and there was no leaks. I checked all the conectors, wires, and things like that. I also found out why my oil pressure seems to have dropped turns out a leak in the oil pan sensors has gotten worse. But still no reason yet as to why it wont start right. Hopefully tommorow i can get to the bottom of this and finish checking everything.
