Ok im the new guy just bought a rx-7 at a junk yard today as a project car. couple questions though. The car hadn't been there long and was bought for parts the car is in good shape but the exhaust manifold is missing. I have read that the n/a 3b motors will not last long under forced induction so im wanting to know if mine was turbo or not. It is a gxl if that helps. there isn't a intercooler but with the exhaust manifold being gone who knows it may have had an intercooler. I couldn't believe the car was in as good of shape that it is in it hasn't been wrecked the motor is in it except the exhaust manifold and body is in great shape

One thing its 13b not 3b, and if it was a gxl then it was never turbo. Turboing an N/a costs way to much money, so if you want boost look for a turboII swap.

 

look at the throttle body. If it opens to the passenger side, its N/A If it opens to the drivers side, its turbo.
