ok i got the car to idle at 750rpm when warmed up. it doesn't want to idle when cold just stalls. it also won't idle when rpms are coming down stalls. i get some nice hesitation and bucking at part throttle also. i don't have to adjust a 89-91 TPS right ? at WOT its smoother than silk. i'm pretty sure the timing is set correctly now. doesn't look like i have anymore vacuum leaks. could this be caused by my fuel tank gasket not sealing 100%. i'm either getting a spare fuel tank or a fuel cell... deciding soon. i just want this to run like it used to https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

Have you tried driving with the narrow range TPS unplugged?

I forget the color of the plug, but it will be the one that the TB stops pushing on first.

ok. i'll check it after work. i think my partial throttle hesitation might be from the gas tank issue i'm having. i emailed somebody to see if they have a tank. i have to ask ito also. if my FD won't be ready for this weekend i want to bring my TII https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

How's the air flow meter?

vosko 07-04-2002 10:52 AM

AFM is fine. its the one from the old engine. before the car broke it was idling perfect and running great

Just make sure that there are no leaks in the turbo inlet duct, as well as the intake manifold. If the thermowax junk isn't working properly the car may not idle when cold, but that's usually just in the winter.

i have the custom ito spec TID remember. there was only one unused hole which we capped off from the stock BOV. i'm gonna spray some carb cleaner around the engine and see if i can find some vacuum leaks

Just do it like the factory manual says to do it. Did you use a timing light?

ok one vacuum hose popped off. car idled but if you give it gas and let off it hunts for the idle. i got it to idle perfect at 1500rpm... maybe i'll keep it that way and tell people its got a giant street port so it has to idle high https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...>/rolleyes.gif

under 3000 rpm in partial throttle sounds like its running on one rotor. mike and i just swapped in my injectors and rails. now it won't run at all. sounds like its not getting any fuel. you have to floor it then it will run at like 400rpm. i don't have work till tomorrow afternoon so i'm gonna swap them AGAIN. this car really doesn't like me https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

Check for vacuum leaks. It's possible that the intake manifold has a crack somewhere. Which ones did you use?

How is it below 1500 RPM?
under 3000 rpm in partial throttle sounds like its running on one rotor. mike and i just swapped in my injectors and rails. now it won't run at all. sounds like its not getting any fuel. you have to floor it then it will run at like 400rpm. i don't have work till tomorrow afternoon so i'm gonna swap them AGAIN. this car really doesn't like me https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png
Check for vacuum leaks. It's possible that the intake manifold has a crack somewhere. Which ones did you use?
I'm having similar idle problems with my TII... it won't idle below 1300 RPMs... this was before and after the haltech... before the haltech it wouldn't idle below 1300 hardly at all...now it will idle below 1300 but it sounds like it's running on one rotor, engine shakes real bad (causes BOV to tap side of the bay, annoying)...

I also have a new problem though... when just revving the engine it revs fine and sounds golden....but when i put a load on it I hear a sparatic ticking sound... sometimes it does it, sometimes it doesn't.... sounds like it's coming from the left side (driver seat point of view) of the engine.... and I can feel a slight draw when it does it also... I do have a bearing going out on my idler pulley, but I don't think that's it and my father swears up and down that it isn't....

other symptoms include : when not in boost there is a slight misfire/hesitation/jerk... but anything above 3000 RPMs and it's golden, except for the ticking sound crap.... I'm not sure what the problem is so I have refrained from driving the car for now... gonna tear it apart this weekend....any advice is apreciated...

Have you tried giving it more fuel at 500 and 1000 RPM? What about the timing?
