yeah i wrecked the vert. not too bad though. i rear ended a guy in a ford ranger. before i always hated plastic bumpers but now i like them. he was stopped and i looked away for a sec and then i looked up and hit the brakes. i was going prob 5 or 10 when i hit him. my car is still working. the brace that goes from the radiator support to the bumper is bent and the hood isnt looking so good but thats about all. i know i will need a hood and a bumper and paint. i dont know if they will be able to straighten out the bend in that brace. pics in a minute oh his truck was fine. it put a couple of scratches on the bumper but thats all.

https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...O_DIR#>/11.gif that sucks man, at least its not major damage, https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...R#>/violin.gif

Shane.Trammell 12-06-2002 08:10 PM

sorry my cam sucks

Turbo II 12-06-2002 08:11 PM

ouch, sorry to hear man, my brother just got in an accident today too. except the person that hit his car had barely any damage and she nearly totaled his

Shane.Trammell 12-06-2002 08:11 PM

thank god for full coverage

Shane.Trammell 12-06-2002 08:13 PM

i would have taken a pic of the brace but the hood doesnt want to open now. it did before i will keep working on it

1Revvin7 12-07-2002 12:20 AM

Scumy!! time for the corksport type II front end. good thing for full coverage, hope ur rates don't skyrocket.

Shane.Trammell 12-07-2002 03:06 AM

yeah if i was gonna get something else i would get the corksport. i dont know what im gonna do though. it wont look good if i dont do the rest, meaning the sides and the back things. i hope my rates done go up too much

Shane.Trammell 12-07-2002 10:57 AM

the corksport full kit was like 749, thats not bad. depending on what the insurance does i might get that. the hoods gonna need to be replaced, and i know that mazda charges an arm and a leg for them so anyone got any suggestions??

Shane.Trammell 12-07-2002 10:59 AM

does anyone have pics of the corksport or border kit?? vert would be nice but anything will do

rx7machine 12-07-2002 11:05 AM

Sorry to hear man.. mines way worse looking though. but I have no pics.. good luck.

rx7machine 12-07-2002 11:06 AM

I gotta 87 n/a too.. keeping her off the streets now.

Shane.Trammell 12-07-2002 11:11 AM

yeah mines really not that bad. but the stuff still has to be replaced.

Shane.Trammell 12-07-2002 11:12 AM

the traction of these things is pretty crappy on slick roads. you just have to be really careful. i know i have come close to losing it a few times in the rain.

Shane.Trammell 12-07-2002 01:04 PM

ok i went out there to go to work and its dead. no power. i cant get the freakin hood open to check it out bc the hood is bent too much to pull the thing up. any suggestions??

Seppuku 12-07-2002 01:20 PM

pry it open with a crow bar https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

norotor_nomotor 12-07-2002 01:24 PM

get out the sawzall its time to operate... if all else fails somehow just undo the hinges

Shane.Trammell 12-07-2002 01:29 PM

hah i dont know how muych i want to damage it since the insurance hasnt looked at it yet. i cant get to the hinges or i would just take off the hood and drive it like that! i got some channel locks and pryed up on it a little but the underside of the hood is too bent.

Seppuku 12-07-2002 01:33 PM

just bend it up a little to where you can get in there

Shane.Trammell 12-07-2002 01:35 PM

i did, i can get in there but when i get in there theres nothing i can do.

Seppuku 12-07-2002 01:56 PM

see if you can get to the latch on the hood and cut it.

j9fd3s 12-07-2002 02:25 PM

or maybe unbolt the latch?

mike

yeah but cutting things up is more fun, lol https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/boink.gif

You may want to pay out of pocket considering your insurance will go up for 3 years 4 months.

Maybe have someone hold the hood release and then try lifting the hood, probably bent the catch so maybe you can get a screwdriver or something in there to try to move the release around a bit.

Shane.Trammell 12-07-2002 04:06 PM

i tried to get in there with a screwdriver but it wont go between the hood and the latch. the hood is in the release position but the lever wont move enough to get the thing open. i took the bolt out of the latch mechanism but it didnt help, i also lost the bolt in the process so now i have to find that . i think that my full coverage will pay for towing so maybe i will have to do that. i thought about out of pocket but mines gonna be much more than my deductible and i dont know what his insurance is gonna say. he was in his work truck from ABC auto parts. i would love to cut it but i dont want to mess up with the insurance.

Rob x-7 12-07-2002 04:16 PM

You hit him from behind, its your fault so its your insurance not his.

Shane.Trammell 12-07-2002 04:53 PM

i know that. i guess i meant what his company is gonna do. they may not even do anything. it only put two small scratches in the plastic.

SoniX 12-07-2002 05:04 PM

as far as the hood goes, check any shops around your area, and junk yards, aluminum is good, though I think your vert came with one stock, I know some did, which is where I got my nice light hood =)

Mine didnt i got a heavy ass steel one.

Shane.Trammell 12-07-2002 05:48 PM

sep you got a steel one bc yours is an s4. i have an aluminum one. i know of a shop that has a tII hood and they might be able to find me an na one. i dont know if i would want the tII one. i dont even know if i want to get that border kit bc my car is not fast and i dont want to become the people that i laugh at everyday.

Thats a good point i was going to say something earlier about that. Oh BTW thanks for explaining why my hood is steel :bigthumg:

Shane.Trammell 12-07-2002 06:02 PM

any other opinions on me getting the full border kit shown in the other thread about border body kits? also about the TII hood. my car is a stock 89 vert, well i have an ebay intake, and i know its not fast so i wouldnt be like the civics with bod kits who think they are fast.

Scott 89t2 12-07-2002 08:47 PM

ya minor damage like that is probbaly better to fix yourself then claim it. used hood + bumper is pretty cheap.

I know for my insurance it's not worth claiming anything under like $4-5kusd. cause my rates will go up that much over the next 10 years or so.

Shane.Trammell 12-07-2002 09:28 PM

well, its not just a hood and a bumper. there is also structural damage. i know which body shop my insurance uses so i will go there to get a quote to see how much i can get from the insurance. i know theres other places that do work just as well that will do it for less so i will use them. my insurance is gonna go up anyways bc i got a ticket for failure to control speed.

Shane.Trammell 12-07-2002 09:34 PM

how much will a stock bumper and a stock na hood cost anyone know?? i also dont know what they are gonna have to do to that brace thats in there thats messed up/

Shane.Trammell 12-07-2002 09:56 PM

ok my dad got it open. heres a pic

Shane.Trammell 12-07-2002 09:58 PM

ok the thing on the left with 2 arrows is supposed to be straight. the other arrows are showing the difference in spacing between the bumper and that thing.

norotor_nomotor 12-07-2002 11:04 PM

just use the sawzall and cut the latch... it cant be THAT expensive to replace if all else fails just get hood pins
