So, the vert has been dead for a while now since i blew the coolant seals. I played with the idea of rebuilding it myself but have ruled that out for now. I have a few ideas: One, have the engine rebuilt. I called rotary performance bc they are local and trustworthy and they quoted me $3K installed if my core is good. That sounds a little high but its what i expected from them. Idea B is to find a motor with good compression and put it in, problem with this idea is that it seems tough to find a non blown NA S5 motor. The third idea that came to mind was get a TII drivetrain and swap it. But, i dont really care to have the extra power in this car, so i dont think it would be worth the trouble.

So, does anyone know where i can get an S5 motor with good compression? Or, have mine rebuilt for a reasonable cost, preferably somewhere close to dallas bc id rather not ship it...

thanks!

a turbo swap will cost alot more, sure people can do it with $1500 and some hopes and dreams, but it usually does not stay running long

i actually find NA motors easy to come by,and they do usually last a very long time.

gotham racing?? That was steve kans shop and i guess they closed bc their website doesnt even work anymore. Their turn around was slow anyway and they focused on big numbers and not stock NA stuff. If you are thinking of a diff shop though id love to hear about it if you can think of the name.

And yes, P86 is very good, possibly my fave band ever.

Staying busy. Havent had a running 7 for some time so I just havent been around. Been spending lots of time at audiforums trying to keep that thing on the road! I sold the GSLSE that i bought for $700 for $700 earlier this year and all it needed was a fuel pump. Still beating myself up over that one every time i see beater FBs for sale for way more! The vert has been sitting for maybe 2 years since i blew the seals bc i was careless, cheap, and lazy. Guess im still beating myself up over that one too... But its too nice to just be sitting there and i havent been able to come to the point of selling it and being 7less. Glad the forum is still here though, and its looking good. Im liking the new (to me at least) layout and design.

Im finding a few NA motors but the S5s are harder to find, and im not going S4 unless there is some benefit i dont know about. Def would rather stay NA just bc of the reliabilty issue. One limitation is that id rather stay local to find it so that rules a lot of things out. I have a prospect though which will hopefully pan out and i can be back on the road for about $1k.

yeah I think that's the one. I know I've heard of Kan many times (makes me think of star trek every time cause i'm a nerd ) but those are the only two I know of in the DFW area :/ I know there are some 7's down in my area so when i'm back I'll see if there's an engine available since everyone there seems to prefer dropping in a v8
