https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683358.gif I put everything back together after initial compression test, The turns over starts up and then dies immediately. The only thing that I did wrong was pull the wrong fuse for EGI(probably fowled out trailing plugs). Would this cause my car not to stay running? Does anyone have any ideas? I appreciate all the help you guys can give me?

What all did you do? Just a compression check? Did you only remove the plugs and EGI fuse? Did you try un-flooding it?

bruce 10-12-2003 08:40 PM

I tried to unflood it but it didn't work. Maybe I need to take the plugs out, but i'm not going to mess with it until tomorrow.

https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/sad.png I got the car running but it doesn't stay running unless I keep my foot on the gas pedal. Can anyone tell me whats going on or, at least point me in the right direction? Thanks you guys have been a big help so far.

Could you have knocked a vacuum hose loose? Mine wouldn't hold an idle when I forgot to put 1 hose back on.

DJ Blu 10-14-2003 03:41 PM

mine wouldn't hold idle after my compression test, but i had 0,0,0 and 70, 70, 70. and alot of problems, including an obviously blown motor. good luck, it's probably just flooded.

how was the compression???

I also know that its not flooded, because it starts, and as long as I keep my foot on the gas pedal it stays running somewhere around 3000 but anything less than that and it dies. Please help me, my car is causing me to loose my mind.

Is the AFM unplugged?

bruce 10-14-2003 09:21 PM

I didn't unplug it but i will check tomorrow, also the haynes manual told me to unplug the cas can anyone tell me why(just wondering)?

teknics 10-14-2003 10:40 PM

definitely sounds like you forgot a connection somewhere, ive done this countless times, especially with the intercooler and i cant figure it out then all of a sudden i remember what i did.

I tried to look at it today, Now it won't even start it just turns over. I think my car either needs a new mechanic(not me) or some serious help from some one that has more experience with these motors. For some reason my car doesn't like me. Can anyone else give me some ideas/things to check on my car? Thanks for the help and the suggestions.

u have a huge vacuum leak. I would guess at the primary injectors

bruce 10-16-2003 09:13 PM

how do I check for that, aren't the primary injectors under the uim or is that the secondarys. I could smell fuel, but I thought maybe that was because it was flooding. Mazda obviously hadn't heard about the acronym KISS(keep it simple stupid), when they designed this engine. That or I need a really large chalk board so that I can have my problems spelled out in front of me.

red arrows point to primary injectors, green circle is where the UIM connects to the LIM (just for a reference point)

check this thread for how to remove the UIM and access that area. There are several potention vacuum leak areas under the UIM (see all those hoses in the pic).
