ok i just did an interior swap i had red interior and now its black but when i put the dash back in and started the car to see if every thing worked and it all looked good but then when i turned the key the car didnt shut off.. like for example i can take out the key all the way and the car well still be runing i guess i missed a connection or somthing does any one know wut it could be

This may sound stupid, but are you sure you pushed the key in and turned it all the way back? I can take my key out while the car is running; in fact it falls out on hard cornering.

yeah, lol it is

haha, I wasn't even trying to be funny! It's annoying, they'll end up under the seat (even the passenger seat) or slide under the pedals. Sucks when you get home and can't find your keys to shut the car off.

But back on topic, I have no idea.

teknics 12-19-2005 05:08 PM

that must be odd most people lose their keys and cant turn the car on, baldy loses them and cant turn the car off. lol. still, i reread the post hours later and i cant stop laughing a bit https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png.

thinking about it quickly the igniton switch would be the first place to look. also don't shut the car down by taking the battery cables off!

What, then, would be the ideal way to shut the car off?

rowtareh 12-20-2005 08:33 AM

LMFAO. I had the same thing happen to my 88. You could take the key out when started.

Funny thing about most second gens. You can use ANY 2nd gen, and it will be universal with all. Starting, locking/unlocking doors.

One320B 12-20-2005 09:23 AM

We had a similar issue with a first gen a while back, I just stalled it out to turn it off. But I would check your ignition switch connections. Was the dash out of the same series (like s4 to s4 or s5 to s5?) another temporary option is to install a push button "kill" switch.

Oh, and yea..a lot of the FC keys are the same as other FC keys...my '88 key unlocks my friends '86 base car...doesn't start it though, which is weird,lol..scary nonetheless though...
