Then teach her how to drive stick.

If she can't figure out how to drive stick then you shouldnt be dating her.

5 speed conversion, exhaust, some type of porting, 5 speed conversion, turbo II motor swapp (1000 bucks is a good start into one) there are plenty of different ways you can go.

think about if you want to keep the convertable setup as well as staying n/a. it might take a while but if you wanted to go all out i'd say sell the vert and find a t2 and go from there. otherwise, other than the intake and exhaust which are perfect somewhat low cost mods (depending on which way you go) i would say standalone ecu maybe...?

For what you could sell that vert for you can get a TII.

$1000.00 does not go far in the world of rotary modifications.

Before you make power there are some things to consider. You do not disclose the location of the car, so you might have some better things to do rather than looking for power but acctually fixing some of the inherent problems of owning a FC.

Preventive maintenance and upgrades might be the better way to spend the money at the moment, here is a list of things I would do prior to trying to get any more hp out of the car.

Tune up:

new plugs, wires, and air filter, and oil change total cost: around $60-80

Throttle body mod (posted in the FAQ section at the top of the page)

cost: materials, around $10-15

Coolant flush and radiator, Rotaries are known heat monsters, getting the coolant under control is a must! I assume you are a new owner of the car, take a look through the porting and engine rebuild photos and look at the coolant passages of some of the torn down engines, over time rust and sediment build up in the engine, and will deteriorate the coolant's effectivenss. A good chemical flush and new radiator or cleaned stock unit will give you peace of mind and hopefully keep ypur 7 on the raod a lot longer. Total cost : around $75 for flush alone, around $500 with new radiator like a Koyo.

You did not state your mileage so you may be in need of a new catalytic convertor and O2 sensor, they do go bad over time total cost: $300-500 depending on what you replace. If you live in a non emissions area, $100-150 for a "test pipe"

fluid change for all other items, to include tranny and filter, rear differential total cost: $100 (est) I have not bought an automatic filter so I am guessing high

Cat back exhaust, this gets expensive wuick, if you don't need a name brand have a custom shop install it, if you need a name brand, your looking at half your money right there. Total cost: $250-800 depending on your preference.

This is just a small list, there is a lot more, but you need to get these things done first before the power
