Tap-ease

A quicker cheaper option is to use a helicoil...depends on the bolt size, but I've seen metric sets at Pepboys and such. Buying a bigger tap/die set for this one thing could be pretty pricy.
ZenRXSeven, do a google search on "how to use a tap and die", you'll get a few tech pages with pics that will be invaluable in helping you. |
Lol, I went to Pepboys yesterday, and picked up a nice tap and die set for about $30. Went home, took out the 10mm x 1.25mm tap, loaded it in it's little hand tapper-twisteroo thingy and started it in. About a minute later it was done, and the bolt (which was fine, high grade SS afterall...) threaded in perfectly fine. It couldn't have been easier. Taps are now one of my favorite tools, lol. I didn't use any Tap-ease or anything though, but it seemed to turn out just fine.
