what 2nd gen do you drive (sunroof/no sunroof, things that would affect interior room) and how tall are you. just trying to judge the drivers space in the car, ive sat in them a bunch of times but i cant reall get a feel for what size could fit in it.

I'm 5'9" or somewhere around there.. and I fit very comfortably in my vert.. with the top up.. I keep my seat almost all the way back.. and lean back alot to though.. I am sure that if I had to sit upright.. I would rub the top with my hair.. But I am a sloth and I slouch so that is not a prob..

j9fd3s 09-09-2003 10:42 PM

6 foot, t2 seats and a sunroof. theres tons of room for me, but i'm skinny and wear socks

Fastrotaries 09-09-2003 10:55 PM

I'm 5'6" and with my Corbeau seats, it really lessens the headroom. I sit waaayyyy taller now.

7mech 09-09-2003 10:56 PM

I'm 6 foot 2 inches. I drive a 90 TII with stock seats and sunroof and have a decent amount of room. I drive long distances and feel fine. I've also done this in an 88 TII. This is the car that told me to sell my 00 s10 extreme short cab and buy a TII. There was no room at all for me in the truck. It actually started to hurt my back. With the TII I have to push the seat all the way back and recline it until it hits the bin behind it. If you're much taller than me like 6'6" then I think you might run into some problems.

mazdaspeed7 09-09-2003 10:57 PM

6'. I have vert seats in my 90 GTU, and they sit higher and farther forward than the coupe seats. In other words, I need about an inch more seat travel. Headroom is never a problem, but I still prefered sitting lower with the coupe seats.

BigTurbo74 09-09-2003 11:21 PM

i hate how i squash my nuts everytime i get out the car,,,

mojo1257 09-09-2003 11:35 PM

I am about 6' and have an '89 TII w/ Corbeau seats and the headroom gets a little tight every once in a while but its not really a problem.

i have a 89 gtu and i fit just fine, and i am 6'5", there could be a little more leg room but what do you expect i am 6'5"!

great you're roughly my height lol

if i put in aftermarket/racing seats (i dont consider anything but real 5 point harness, nonreclining seats as racing seats, to me it seems ricey to call any aftermarket seat a racing one lol) would i be able to gain more leg room?

im weird my knees in all my cars (wrangler, durango, and every thing i drove before that) i make close to the dash and recline the seat back so i sort of slump, when im a little inebriated then i give tons of leg room and like a more straight up seatback.

ponykiller 09-09-2003 11:55 PM

6'2", and my anniversary w/ sunroof is no problem for room. Plenty of head and leg room.

My '91 'vert, on the other hand, is a bit of a problem. I hit my head with the top up (I would need another 1.5-2" to clear), but I am just fine with the top down. Go figure! Leg room is okay in the 'vert.

rotary rebel 09-10-2003 01:49 AM

well buddy im 5,8" and i fit fine in me 88 unless i stretch out and then i hit my head on then roof. by the way i have a sun roof but i dont think it makes a difference. i like to sit straight up so i can pay full attention to the road. i dont think it will give you a problem. if it does just recline your seat and take it a little bit towards the bin. you should be allright. but if it gives you a problem then you can get rid of it to me for a few green backs!?!?! yeh. just deal with it and love the rotary man. it will be ok.

Pazuzu 09-10-2003 02:12 AM

I'm 6'2", and fit in my vert jsut fine. It took about 2 weeks to find the perfect way to sit, seat position. I drive 110 miles per day. Before I got the position down, I was pinching a nerve in my crotch (OUCH) everytime I drove, but once I got it figured out, that went right away.

FC3Slider 09-10-2003 02:16 AM

6'6" when i go to autoX or Drift events i have to put the sun roof back, recline my seat and stick my head out the sun roof to be able to fit. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png but on every day useabe it is great. could use a smaller steering whell though

pengaru 09-10-2003 02:21 AM

5'11", very comfortable. Even moreso with the inerior gutted.

evilT2 09-10-2003 02:32 AM

6'2" head hits the ceiling when taking dips.

luckily thats why god invented the sunroof.

Nemesis 09-10-2003 02:41 AM

6'2" 230lbs. I fit fine.

90Vert 09-10-2003 02:48 AM

I'm 6'4" and fit fine in my vert with the top down but I do hit my head with the top up and could use a smaller steering wheel!

Baldy 09-10-2003 07:59 AM

6'3", 170 lbs. I have GXL seats, and a sunroof. I slide my seat all the way back, and recline most of the way (but not hitting the back). I have long legs, and I find the car comfortable. Though is seems that the passenger side has less leg room, if I'm not mistaken. When the sunroof is open, and I sit up straight, the left half of my head hits the roof, so do you guys lean to the right to stick your head up (with helmet, or otherwise)?

gazellis 09-10-2003 09:48 AM

6'2"; 240 lbs. Fit fine in my 87 GXL (has sunroof); Stock seats.

yea, and just hope the top of your head isnt sheared off when you somehow manage to flip the car over

baller520 09-10-2003 10:32 AM

6'1 150 pounds

I fit just fine for normal driving, but for autox and drag my helmet is solidly planted against the roofline. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683664.gif

Baldy 09-10-2003 10:34 AM

I might have to put on my motorcycle helmet and sit in my car, just to experience that Auto-X feeling...

RotaryRetard 09-10-2003 12:50 PM

MazdaEnthused 09-10-2003 12:57 PM

5'7... short legs.. i have to push the seat damn near all the way forward in order to be able to push the clutch in the hole way... but i like being close to the wheel i can maneuver the car a bit better.

UniqueTII 09-10-2003 01:49 PM

I'm 6'4" and fit fine in my TII with the seat tilted back a little.

john 09-10-2003 11:20 PM

dang i noticed yah some tall ass people in here, or maybe im just short, well im about 5'4, im like the shortest rx7 owner on this board

MazdaEnthused 09-11-2003 03:10 PM

how old are ya John

Erik 09-11-2003 08:31 PM

6'1 and I fit fine...seats are still a few clicks from the back.

I've done tons of road trips in the car and the seats feel great...being in the car 5 years has warped my back to only fit in FC seats, lol

At least theyre still better seats than 90% of new cars.

Apex13B 09-11-2003 09:54 PM

I honestly believe that the interior designer of the FC was in the 6foot + range. I'm a really big bastid....6'4" and about 275lbs (95% fat). And all I need is a D-shaped steering wheel to fit nicely. All FC owners seem to be somewhat tall. Its truly the only car i have ever fit comfortably in.

powdrhound 09-26-2003 12:55 AM

This the thing that immediately turned me off on the RX-8.

I'm 6'0", and fit quite fine in my 88 GXL. No way the back seat option would have worked, though. Seat is full back.

Now the -8, to sit at a comfortable spot, again the seat was back. But even at full back, the shoulder strap was riding VERY hard on my shoulder. It was VERY uncomfortable and distracting.

And the back seat? I tried to sit behind myself, and could not even get my feet back out. May try again when they remove the rear seat. But then that makes the back doors unneeded...

Just bring out a new 7!

It Didn't "Just Feels Right"

HIMNI RACING 09-26-2003 06:22 AM

I'm 6'1. It's kinda tight in my 10 ann. Funny thing though, I have WAY more room in the 1st gen....don't know what that's about

RotorBalls 09-26-2003 11:46 AM

6'2" and plenty of leg room and head room in my 86

MazdaEnthused 09-26-2003 01:24 PM

i fit fine with the seat way up and the back of the seat way up so i dont move when corners come cause i tend to take the pretty fast...

teknics 09-27-2003 12:11 AM

ok well i finally got to ride for a long period of time in my t2, i'm 6'6", 190lbs-ish, and fit rather nicely...the swapped in 2+2 seats will be impossible to use (wouldnt use them anyway) but i was amazed at the amount of room i have.
