I've removed the plastic thing, the rod, and the 3 bolts (though there were really only 2?). Now how does it come out? Do I have to remove the license plate trim piece? If so, how? I don't want to break it.

it would just be the center section anyhow.

does the vert have the big clip holding the lock in place like a coupe?

I have taken the lock out of a vert a few times, but damm if I remember how without doing it again

I had to remove the center piece, and it came right out (after I had already removed the bolts holding it in).

However, the only place open today says he won't make a key from the trunk, he needs the passenger door lock with the code on it.

I've removed the door panel, and the tary plastic sheet. How do I remove the lock? I don't see what's holding it in.

2 bolts holding the door handle in, wire clip holding lock onto the handle, got it! Hopefully with the trunk and passenger door lock, the guy at the flea market (only one in town with an open key shop) can make a key.

However, I don't see any numbers on the lock anywhere, so I dunno what that's all about.

Didn't matter, I brought him the trunk and passenger door lock, and he didn't have what he needed to get it done. This is the only guy in town that would do work on Saturday without a service call fee (he's set up at the flea market). He said he'd have to remove the caps, which would damage them, and he didn't have the caps he needed to replace them. So I have to go back on Monday.

So I'm having guys come over to help me work on the car, and it'd be nice to be able to start the thing. How do I start it without the key, without ruining anything or cutting wires?

If you take the surround off the column you can remove the switch from the ignition cylinder and use a small flat screwdriver. I think only one screw holds it once the surrounds off. Did it on my vert a long time ago when i misplaced my key and needed to pull it forward, its really straight forward.

Instead we were trying to directly jump the starter, but apparently the starter's old and busted (Ford 5.0 starter from '85, I guess). We also ran a power source directly the fuel pump to jump it as well.

I should get the keys back today. The locksmith is having a hard time, he said what he has listed for a key blank won't fit, they found that a blank from a Subaru fit, so they're going to try to "do some reverse engineering". Whatever man, just get me a freaking key.
