for those who may not know, afterburn is popping in the exhaust when the car is idling....I'm just curious how common of a problem this is

I couldn't hear any even when i had straightpipes on. Rarely I hear it when my car has just started, very cold and i rev past 6500rpms. Is afterburn just when the car is idling? I though they were called backfires, and misfires. How can this be fixed?

Afterburn almost sounds like you're making popcorn in your exhaust when the car is at idle. Back fire is just one random loud POP.

Depends on how rich and advance timing my engine is running.

I had 2.5" straightpipe on my NA motor..it never did that..it would spit pretty blue/yellow flames when downshifting into 3rd @ 60MPH though

Flames are good.

The Haltech will pretty much make your car do whatever you want it to do...within reason. All of the quirks of the stock ECU, such as hot starting problems, will go away.

Buy my TEC II. The ignition on the TEC II is great. It even starts a flooded motor.
