If you plan on asking this in here plan on lots of negative feedback.1Revvin7 is doing this swap and should be able to help you out tho. Most people will tell you just to buy a T2 and save your self the millions of headaches it will cause you but it's personal preference when it comes right down to it.

You're also gonna need the entire t2 drivetrain, and dash wiring harness, t2 MAF, t2 fuel pump or aftermarket, t2 knock and pressure sensors, FMIC or t2 hood, TID. Its not that hard to do, especially if your passion is cars and working on them, Im not too hot on all the wiring deal since I made it a lot less complicated by buying a haltech. The hardest part is putting in the new rear end and halfshafts. Just make sure you buy an n/a fc with 5 lug wheels, so you won't have to upgrade those, and ofcourse find one with a blown engine. Make sure you got time, tools, a garage, space heater, and some $$$, i have spent like and extra grand alteast on small things.

He's right w/ most the stuff...I converted my rear end and still kept the 4lug for now...took some um.."creativity" though. I havent got the t2 pressure and knock sensors...but revvin...you have haltech right..do you still need to have the pressure sensor & knock sensor..i thought the haltech handled those???

Oh...and i'm glad to hear you had to change your dash harness too, I don't feel so along now, lol..that thing was a BIATCH!

Rotaryman88 12-29-2002 05:03 PM

We are very similar Revvin...when did you start your conversion, i dont remember????

vosko 12-29-2002 05:15 PM

haltech has its own map sensor. you don't need the knock sensor for haltech either

1Revvin7 12-29-2002 05:35 PM

This brings about some question I have, Why would you need to change the dash harness? is it because it won't plug into the t2's ecu? And no Rotaryman88, i do not have the stock pressure or knock sensor. And I don't need to change the dash harness AAHHAAHAHAH!!!!!! I love my haltech https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png I started the conversion about late June/July. Whos gonna win the race to get it done? And you're also 18, damn I though there was no one else close to my age doing this... :bigthumg:

That was my thought....

Yea, I had to change the dash harness because I went from an S4 NA to an S5 T2...if I went from an S4 to S4 it would have worked, or an S5 to S5...but the plugs changed on the ECUs for the S5s. However, it doesn't matter if the dash harness you get is from a turbo model or not unless you use a turbo instrument cluster. I used a dash harness and instrument cluster from an '89 GTU.

I NEED HALTECH DAMNIT! How old r u revvin? You will probably win...the fact that I only need oil lines seems to much like a dream to me...

1Revvin7 12-29-2002 06:02 PM

Thought so, i was thinking why the hell would i have to change a dash harness if im using the same dash, I just bought some defi gauges and same myself a pain in the ass! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683894.gif Haltech https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683894.gif And now they got that E11 out, I should have waited 1 month, o well same thing but a dat bit better. Im 18. :smirk: I only need fuel rails, well actually the $$$ to buy them, ahah. I could put it together if I wanted to run the stock injectors, but naw... No rush, its winter. You need oil lines? I have a pair of used stock ones from my new motor. Or are you looking to get the Rb ones?

Rotaryman88 12-29-2002 06:10 PM

Yea, I was looking to get the RB SS ones...not the ones that you need the extra fittings for though...no use in that...but I just spent 19K on my protege and christmas and such...money was hurting, lol...AND I'm still in college, lol and paying for that. I get paid this upcoming friday but I need to pay back some bills, if I can get ahold of atkins and return my core, they'll refund me my $500 which will be more then enough for my oil lines. I'm running stock injectors and stock rails for the breakin period, but once I get my refund from atkins, i'm buying the 1600cc secondaries, custom rail and and putting 720cc primary. What all do you have done to your block? Stock internals?
