How can you tell the differance between T2 and N/A drivetrain parts?

So I have a 1990 N/A convertible that has and LSD. This week it stopped locking, and is acting like an open diff. From what I've read there was no N/A LSD offered in 1990. So how can I tell if mine is really a N/A or Turbo II diff? I'd also like to confirm whether my trans is originally out of a N/A or Turbo RX7...

I had just read that convertibles regardless of series didn't come stock with LSD. I've never heard of a VLSD going out either... Sure doesn't feel like the VLSD I used to drive (z32)...

The engagement got weaker and weaker over time, almost like a slipping clutch. From the feeling I'd have to assume I have a clutch type. but I dont know if there are any differences I could see without dropping the diff, and pops will kill me if I disassemble my car in his front yard again.

I'm considering just buying a FD diff thats for sale about an hour from my house and putting that in. as long as I have parts to fix it I can drop the diff.

If I know what kind of diff I have I can get one welded up for drifting until I can rebuild my current diff.... But it would suck to buy a N/A diff, or a T2 diff and find out its the wrong one...

or if I can confirm exactly what kind of diff I have I can determine if I can put in an FD unit thats for sale near my house.

yea there is a size difference in t2 to na and the fd diff will only fit a s4 t2 pumpkin and you could just pop the cover off the diff and see what it looks like if you happen to have a s4 t2 drive train on your s5 then you wont have issues with the fd diff install

So I confirmed it still stays locked for the most part on dirt, and last time it rained it still locked. But on dry pavement I have one tire fire...

I measured 11" stub to stub (width) and 1'2"? from the driveshaft stub, to where the diff bolts together (visible in the pics)
