hey guys, has been a while since i've had any problems..but now some are arising. so..my car starts up fine in the mornings and even idles perfectly all the time. its an 87 with 75k miles on the car. im not sure if its an engine problem or the car just needs a tune up. the problem im having is: (now, it only seems to happen when the engines hot) but about once a week on average the car won't start. i have to take out the injector fuse and crank it for a few seconds, then put it back in and it starts fine. any reasons why this is happening..its the only problem i've ever had. i hope its not meaning im having compression problems. do i just need more spark or is there some other reason. thanks alot guys!

I guess you could say it needs a "tune-up" then

Being a 13B, a "tune-up" entails different things.. Considering the car is so old, it's probably time to have the injectors cleaned, fuel filter replaced, inspect the pulsation dampener for leaks, and check the FPR is making proper pressure..

Not out of the ordinary for this to be happening, alot of people just deal with it and never have it properly fixed.

It's hard to track problems with the OEM ECU.. Sometimes it's worth it to go standalone just for problem solving.

Hot start problems usually mean apex seals had it. A leak down test is the only sure way to find out for sure. Agood shop should be able to provide this service. Using a sikes leak down tester at 100 psi any result below 92% is not a good sign. Any thing over 95% the problem is else where. Compression testers with rotarys may not give true indication of condition.

I wouldn't say usually, that's a bit excessive
