Ok so this S5 n/a I am picking up, the owner told me sometimes when its hot the car doesnt want to start right away does this mean low compression? or is that a worst case issue. I think engine might have some carbon build up the owner was a older female that would only drive the car a day or two a week.

could be a TON of things...

one320fb 06-25-2007 04:55 PM

leaking injectors was a S4 problem? can I rule that out

One320B 06-25-2007 05:52 PM

Lol, I'm going w/ low compression https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif

I just dont think a car that has "hot start" issues that is completely stock would be anything simple to fix... i mean, the injectors could be BAD, but dunno...

I like my low compression answer better...

How many miles on the engine?

Certainly could be compression, but I like the leaky injector theory. The injectors don't need to be "bad", they just need to be a little dirty.

108k

I wouldn't assume low compression with that mileage, unless the engine was overheated or otherwise abused.

one320fb 06-26-2007 07:57 PM

I think its the injectors, it wouldnt start again. so I pulled a spark plug and it was covered in fuel!

not to thread jack but i have a similar problem with my s4 TII with 100k miles. i have new secondaries and cleaned primaries and i have the same problem. checked the compression and its 100psi front and 80psi rear. think its compression?

jwteknix 07-01-2007 08:06 PM

just bring the car to 3k before shutting it off

It helps to put in a fuel pump cut switch, and use that to shut the car off. The injectors cant leak when the car's off if all the fuel in the lines has already been burned.

vacuum leaks... uneven compression isnt helping though
