One word....EBAY!! I bought one of those $15 MBC's and it works great. You can't really figure out how many turns = so many psi. It's more like trial and error, but once you find it, the boost stays there. I do have a little trouble with creep, but only about 1 psi in 4th and 5th. It handles 16 psi pretty well https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png .

err I don't know much about 3rd gens

isn't the stock boost pattern supposed to be 10-8-10 or something? so I guess the stock spring opens at 10 but then again don't fd's have stock electronic boost controllers? so I don't know https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/wacko.png

first of all you don't want to T the pressure sensor!!!!! THAT IS BAD!!!

what do the valves you got look like. i remember them from my FD.... i was NOT impressed. speaking of which can't wait to hook up my blitz boost controller in my T2 https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

The way I understand manual boost controllers is that it should consist of both a spring-loaded ball valve, and a bleed valve. The ball valve holds boost pressure off the wastegate spring until the pre-set level is reached. The bleed valve releases pressure in the wastegate line so the gate won't hang open when the boost pressure drops. The better TurboXS MBC is built this way. The cheap one is not. I got a "custom fabbed" one off ebay from Lower Shores Performance. I haven't tested it extensively yet, but initial tests show that it attains and holds boost very well. I have mine set at 9 psi for now, since my injectors and ECU are still stock.

If you want to test your set up, get a pressure gauge and a tire pump and go to it. Pretend the tire pump is your turbo, and see what kind of pressures you are getting in your wastegate line.

the two stage turboXS MBC works good, had it on an old 240sx with an SR20, i'm gonna get it for my turboII now... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683621.gif

vosko,

it looks like the T is from the HKS sport turbo kit, it even says "hks" on it.

where should the line going to the pressure sensor come from? a pic of my valve im using can be seen on the website i linked too at the bottom its the valve in the ashtray.

as for the mbc,

im just going to call the HD MBC a failure and go for the turboxs dual stage i think, if not dual stage then the "high performance" one or whatever. im just hoping i dont need to change my watsegate or something.

presure sensor goes to UIM nipple. boost controller goes from front nipple on turbo to MBC then other port goes to wastegate actuator vaccum port...... basically you are telling the ecu how much boost the turbine is making but not how much boost is actually going to the engine.............. that could be a TON of your problems right there. i also believe the vaccuum line to the map sensor stock is supposed to have an orifice

vosko 09-30-2003 01:46 PM

changing your wastegate is impossible. can you take some pix of the turbo on your car. i don't believe you have a HKS t04e. it is probably a garret T04E compressor and wheel on a stock exhaust housing and wheel. i used to have that a long time ago on my black T2 it hauls ass but you can't control boost for anything

wait so from the pressure sensor i want to bring a vaccuum hose to the UIM? where is this nipple i want to attach it to.

as for it being the hks t04e kit, thats what trvais (evilt2) said it had, there's a bunch of hks pieces on it as well. THe turbo itself says Garrett and is A/R 50.

I'll grab some pics tomorrow when i dont have work.

i think i have to look over vaccuum diagrams and trace **** back, but theres no rats nest so i will have to look for a rats nest removal how-to maybe and check to see where the lines should go.

Don't use that home depot ****. They are way too sensitive and it is easyn to overboost. Buy a proper controller.
