ok so i looked at http://www.bridow.com/rx7/howtoboostcontrol.html which is a how to for a Home depot controller for 3rd gen's. Basically used it to see what part i should grab from home depot to use.

So i went to home depot and got the same bleed valve, except 3/8" since my lines are bigger then 1/4", came home and began assembly.

I attached what mine looks like (ala photoshop)

no matter what i do it doesn't control the boost, it simply controls how fastthe boost builds. If i screw it completely shut the boost rockets up, but without a limit, all the way open it acts how it used to (keeps building, enough that i cant really redline 3rd or 4th because i dont want to boost past 10psi. Havent fucked around in 5th much but i expect the same thing)

Ive got some thoughts on what's wrong the main one being that the turbo is upgraded to the HKS T04E package, and travis (evilt2) said he ported the wastegate as much as possible but used the stock spring since the HKS spring was unrated. i figure i have to enlarge something, maybe go aftermarket for a wastegate or something before i can control the boost at all.

Any insight is helpful, even tho i may probably just get the turboxs one off of ebay, i'd like to at least learn if i made a mistake, or be able to prevent buying the turboxs one only to have it not work, ya know?

thanks,

kevin.

I suspect that with the type of valve you are using, when you have it fully closed, the wastegate is not getting a pressure signal at all so, it never does open so boost skyrockets.

when you have it fully open it should operate at a slightly higher boost than w/o the valve.

What kind of boost levels do you see just before you let off? and what are you stock levels with you T04?

Does your bleed valve bleed into the atmostphere?

slacker:

yea thats what i figured happened when i had it fully closed.

the problem is i cant really go to the max. boost level for fear of popping the motor (stock fuel system + t04e + no control = pop)

All i know is if it redlines in 4th gear it's looking at over 15psi of boost.

It's not really a bleed valve, i labeled it wrong, it's more of a blocking valve, cant think of the name.

It's basically a tube with a screw going perpendiular which is restricting airflow within the tube. If i had the bag with me i'd give you the official name for it.

It isn't vented that i know of, its just what i said it is above.

should it be vented?

Errr... just making sure... you know that boost controllers can't lower boost levels below the lowest setting of the wastegate right?

yes.

it has the stock spring in it even tho the wastegates been ported.

i dont know what the lowest setting of it would be but isnt the spring rated at 5.5 psi or something?
