Ok, so today i jumped in the car and started it up. Let it warm up a couple minutes and pulled it out of the driveway. Then went to step on the pedal. AHHHHH foot went all the way down to the floor. It did stop but my foot was solid on the floor.

Now i has a sneaking suspition that this is related to the leaking ABS unit i has and it is sucking in some ari and thats why the pedal is like this.

Im thinking i will go and bleed the hole system tomarrow, but i want to go non-ABS since the new pump costs $2400 or something stupid like that.

But my problem is this, im not sure how to go NON-ABS. I did a search that showed up one good result, but it was a veig "how to" post. And i was not able to gather much from it. And it seemed to be un-nessary in alot of the items that were used.

Can anyone post up how they went non-ABS, or mabe a write up of how to do the hole thing. Cause i want to get this done soon so i dont end up nose first into someones bumper:P

Thanks

Tim

OK, so i did a search on some "other" forums and found out some things that i did not want to hear.

I will need a brake proportioning valve. Im not loking this already.

Would i be able to get a non-abs unit from another RX7 and bolt it right up?

You need the brake lines (hard) from a Non-ABS car. MAzdatrix(?) also makes a kit with short brake lines that go in place of the ABS unit

either you have a massive hydraulic leak (you are loosing hydrualic pressure externally) which is indicated by no fluid left in teh reservior. Or your Master Cylinder is bypassing internally where the seals have let go and fluid is going around your piston.

You do not need new proportioning valve. ABS and NON ABS cars have the same part number for their proportioning valve. This lead me to believe they are the same thing. I've gone through all of this. Perhaps you should physically identify the leak and see where it is dripping before coming to all these conclusions

Not jumping to any conclusions. The ABS unit is leaking.

Im assuming it is taking in air instead of letting out fluid. So i want to replace it but the price of that is to high. So i ordered a Mazdatrix ABS-deletion kit. Hope it gets here soon :P

brakes are over rated, you'll stop eventualy when you run into something let us know how easy it turns out to be, i may be able to get another 7 with a brand new motor not even installed yet, and if its simple enough i may want to do it to avoid the hassle

Ill try to make a DIY thing with it. But i imagine it is VERY simple. They maxdatrix site said that it will take a couple of days before i recieve it, but i hope it gets here soon. This is the first thing i have ever ordered online :P

Beleave me, you do. RX7's are WAY to much fun to care about the gas price and all that.
