hey i bought my 88 rx7 not to long ago on new years day 2004 to be exact but i need help installing a high flow intake where the factory air box is and i need to know how to do it with the o2 sensor being connected to the air box. What i need is how i can install a high flow air filter on and i dunno what to do with the o2 sensor thats already on the air box can anyone help me? If you can that will be greatly appreciated https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif

u are talkign abotu teh air flow meter not teh o2, o2 sensor goes on your exhaust.

u can isntall a "high flow" intake adapter thingy from ebay , its about 20 bucks. i doubt it actaulyl helps teh power much, u might want to just cut a stock box somewhere on the bottom of the mazda sign, take off teh piece that goes over teh radiator shroud, and plug that side and use a k&n replacement filter. that woudl prolly work better since it will try to get teh air by where teh headlight has holes rather then teh hot engine bay liek a cone would.

by the way this si teh worng forum to post this in, someone move to 2nd gen

See the red filter thing? That would be your "high flow intake." The gray metal thing with the d-shaped black area that it's attached to is your air flow sensor. Attach filter as shown.

ohh yah and one more thing with the adapter thing does it matter if its a turbo or an NA cause mines a turboII

Apex13B 02-02-2004 06:39 PM

If you have a S5 NA you can run a full intake.Piping and all.BOMZ racing makes one.I have one on my GF's topaz. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif

<span style='font-size:8pt;line-height:100%'>Psst, racer x, check the first line</span>

TII, n/a, it's all the same when you're using a lower quality adapter (I'm not hating, I have an ebay adapter). Good luck.

if you guys dont want to waste money on the bomz intake system you can make a cheap cold air like this, i made one on my car and i felt more of a gain from doing this than just putting an adapter filter on the maf.

Did you take out your washer reservoir or mount the filter somewhere else?

N0pstn 03-11-2004 10:09 AM

i moved the washer reservoir to the side alittle bit and ziptied that beast down

i.didnt.do.it 03-11-2004 10:24 AM

I just made a bracket that would connect to the AFM out of of allum. that would hold an air filter and put a 'kid' filter on the air pump...theres a bunch of ways to do this...as long as you can connect an air filter on the AFM and on the air pump, its all good...

I'll post pics tom if you want...
