ok heres the thing, i pulled the plug off the afm and cranked it, it was a noticible difference. it shook and hessitated and still wouldnt hold an idle.

so should i rule the afm out?

yes if it totaly acted different.

if it acted the same it would be a bad AFM

fcrotornut 04-04-2007 03:43 PM

great.... now what the crap could it be?

fcrotornut 04-04-2007 03:57 PM

it didnt act MUCH different, it just stumbled a bit more... but otherwise it did the exact same thing.... we sure it cant be the afm?

Well not for sure.

I would only say for sure if I was there bro otherwise I can't really go off by what you say.

I still say there's a good chance it's your AFM same **** happened to me that you describe.

I had a similar problem with my 240sx which turned out to be the vacuum line from the brake booster to the motor. you might try getting the car started then look under the hood and listen for any hissing. could be AFM though :P hope you find it.

I thought he would say he heard a hissing noise if that was the case but maybe it is that he should check it anyways.

fcrotornut 04-04-2007 06:23 PM

theres a hissing noise but it comes from my intake.

ok here my thing about the vacuum line... it drove fine and i parked it and then went to crank it up and thats when i had the issue, how the crap could a vacuum line come off overnight with the car not running? unless it did it on startup.

Ever heard of dry rot? it does not necessarily have to be at the end of the line per say but rather somewhere along the tube. my vacuum line cracked in half. had about a half inch gaping crack in the middle. idled terrible, at stop lights I had to keep revs up or it would die. sometimes even going down the road it would die. after I fixed it, no problems.

all the vacuum lines got replaced when i bought the car lol.

i mean all sorts of preventative maintnence has been done, i guess i can grab some starter fluid and try that trick. never know
