ask him for 2200 thats basically because of the engine work i think.....if the engine wasnt ported or nething id ask him for 2000...and if he didnt want to sell it too me then he liked it more than i did.....my dad did the same thing to this one guy that was askin 3000 for a second gen .....but my dad stuck to 2200 and told him he thought it was worth 1800 and that the guy liked it more.....it was in basically mint condition.....other than a possible very minor idling problem...to bad he screwed us out of the deal...

man u live right near me
like ten minutes away, check this out, if ur gonna pay that, theres a nice clean vert down here, its in great condition and i'm not sure about the mileage. i think it's a 90-91. they want 3200 for it but u can get it for 3k. i also know of another rex down here on hwy 150 (i live in lincolnton by the way) and they want 2500 for it, its an NA. let me know what happens

The car is a good hour away so I haven't been to see how it runs yet, I thought it seemed to high for it with all the rust but I'm new to RX-7s and wasn't sure.
I really don't want a convertible, they just aren't my thing. I checked on the Iwanna website but I didn't see any for sale. And rotorn00b, 150 is the road that goes in front of Big Lots in Lincolnton and goes towards Walmart right?

Anyone have a guestimate on how much it would cost to fix that rust? I know it's gonna be high but if it's gonna cost a arm and a leg I won't even worry about going down there to try to talk him down.

I paid $1,700 for my n/a, it's got no rust, and runs great. In hindsight, I thought I (actually my wife) paid too much.
bodywork isnt that costly if you take the time to teach yourself how its done. its very frustrating the first time. my experiance with that shitty red mazda paint is to fix dings and holes and then put better paint on the car. paint is costly but there is always ways to save money. look for someone who sells sherwin williams automotive paint or something of that nature. I'm getting ready to paint another car and the sherwin williams paint (and everything that goes with it ) is running around $169. thats cheap. won't be a showcar paint job but it will look nice. Napa has good qaulity sandpaper and their microlite bodyfiller is excellent. they wont soak you like some of the big brand names.
