Hey everyone. I'm a newbie and I've always been interested in rotary engines but I don't have any experience with them. I have a 1986 Monte Carlo SS so I've only had experience with small block Chevy's. Anyways, a neighbor down the street is selling his 1989 GTU. It's red, has a little door dings, 5 speed, and has about 99,000 miles. He wants $2800 for it. Is that a fair deal? What are some of the things I should look for when I test drive it? Also, I've heard something about leaking oil or the Apex seal. How do I check that?

Where else can I check on stats and specs on different RX-7's and what are the different types: GTU... I've been looking around the different web-sites but have been having trouble finding any info on the different types. Any help is appreciated,

$2800 is ok. i would do a compression test. some N/A's go 200k miles but if it wasn't maintained correctly won't go nearly that many miles....
