My heater has never worked. So I removed the 2 rubber hoses in the engine bay where they meet the fire wall. I shoved a hose over one hole, and turned it on. I saw coolant come out of the other hole, so I guessed that the heater core is not clogged. Any time I turn my heater on, I never can detect moisture on the floor, so I think that it's not leaking. (I did detect some water, but I think it's from me blasting the hose there, it didn't smell like coolant and was very cold).
So what's the deal? The air doesn't even get warm. All I want is some defrost, and maybe a little warmth for me fingers. |
maybe the logicon is messed up
|
with the key on engine off, when you move the heat lever do you hear the motor?
|
Yep, I can hear the blower motor if that's what you mean, at all different speeds. I can also hear the sounds of the little motors when I switch from face/feet/defrost and such. All the indicator lights work fine as well.
I also felt around under the dash for warm air in case the ducting was blowing it somewhere else. |
its gotta be the logicon, its just not switching to get the air through the core
|
when was the last time you changed the thermostat?

change that and see what happens, open thermostat will not allow heat |
Yeah open thermostat = engine runs too cold = not optimum for motor = no heat for you in the cab.

Ya know what, that must be it. I hear little motors for everything BUT when I switch between cold and hot. Without replacing the logicon, is there a way to make it stick to the hot side? I have no a/c in my car, so I don't need it to be able to switch back to cold, but it would be nice to utilize the face/hand/defrost options. About the thermostat, I've tried heat after driving the car for awhile (after reaching normal operating temp, with temp guage at half) and I still got no heat. |
you need to find the heater motor (it should be accesable without too much work) and manually put it the other way.
if its the heater valve motor, then you need to figure out if the locicon is bad or the motor |
the gauge will read normal, but there will be no heat
defroster wont work too well without the ac compressor in the car |
Crap, think I might have ripped a hose or something. While driving to work I saw steam coming from behind the dash for a few seconds. When I got to work, popped the hood, and found a little steam coming from around the heater hose/firewall. awww, shucks.
