Hey guys,

I just got a 91' RX-7 convt. for my first car. It has headrest speakers but they don't have any sound....kinda dissapointed. I have tried following the wiring, but as far as I can tell, everything is still connected. Neither of the seats work. If anyone has an idea, please help. Thanks!

you have to turn them up everytime you turn the car on, they are VERY subtle, they wont be blaring in your ear.

just hold your finger on the volume button and put your ear by the speaker as you do it

On the center console there are two buttons for the surround sound. They have to be pressed in for each seat. The do as Rob said, turn them up everytime you get in the car. I hate that part

Phinsup.......again I LIKE my headrest speakers. I think they are cool and I use them all the time.

Maybe you have the mute button depressed!!!

When I bought my car I thought the stereo was broken......driving home I began to wonder what that little button did. pushed and wow the stereo worked.

yeah the mute will mess up the sound, takes all the bass out.

if thats not the prob the switch might be bad, they can be finicky so play with it a little, turn it off and on stuff like that and maybe it will start working

yeah.. at one time.. only my headrest speakers worked on the vert.. and i could still hear them while drivin on the highway.. all my other speakers work off aftermarket amplifiers.. which i have removed now that the vert is stored..

try checkin the buttons.. and connections of the lil control panel in the center console.. maybe corrosion or a cut wire..? or the amp may be disconnected

If the previous owner had an aftermarket stereo, it could've blown the amp for the speakers. I had a Clarion unit and it blew the amp. The red lights wouldnt even come on for the switch, i thought it was gone. Ended up sending the unit to a guy at crutchfield and they actually located the bad part and replaced it. So if the amps gettin power (use a voltmeter to check it), but the switch/speakers arent, then check the fuses in the amp (under the carpet directly behind the drivers seat), if thats not it, u might wanna look at sending ur unit off to get repaired.
