I haven't noticed any downside, and I haven't heard anything bad from anyone else running a header.

The only thing I could think of would be if you got the race header, and your car needed the O2 bung.

on a stock motor, I know the header replaces the exhaust manifold and main cat, it should bolt to the presilencer

so I guess to answer your question, yes, it will replace the downpipe, but also the exhaust manifold (bolts to engine)

yeah, I just did the same thing.. replaced the RB downpipe and stock mani with RB header.. power is almost the same, noise is a bit more... I just couldn't take the look of the exhaust mani anymore when the heatshields broke off.
