Angry

I have an 88 gxl and from most of the posts I've seen there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of you guys out there with the gxl model- are they not that common/popular? from most of the info I have read I seem to like them the most... 4.10 gears, 4 wheel disc brakes (four piston calipers in front?) that crazy push button driver selectable suspension (sports- normal what the hell does that really do anyway?)

And I don't know what else I may have missed- its late and I've had a few beers- thank god for vacations- I can stay up till 6am and sleep till 2:00 and then work on my car till midnight and then do it all over again the next day! I dont think I'll ever get the grease out of my fingernails...

Question

Yeah I have an 86 GXL and I love it.

Well if you REALLY wanted to know what Normal/Sport suspension is, you'd have tested it

Hehe

No but seriously, the sports one is much stiffer and well normal is smoother. :tounge:

I love my GXL

The GXLs are not that rare. They are the premium package for the 2nd Gens. They came fully loaded with the power options and such. The GXL became just a Coupe in '91. They are the nicest packaged, but the TURBO is still the best, lol. Also, due to the GXL being the most loaded, its also one of the heaviest! The rarest 2nd gens are '88 GTUs and '89GTUs.

The heaviest is the vert, at just over 3,000 lbs. and a little over 3,100 with an automatic in 89 +. The Turbo II is the second heaviest at a little over 2,800 lbs., and in 91 the TII was over 3,000 lbs.

In 88 they didn't make the GTUs, unless that is plural for GTU. They started making the GTUs (not plural) in 89. Oh yeah, you left out the 2nd rarest of all 2nd gen 7s, the 10th anniversary. :tounge:

How do you think I feel I own one of those. I have to make up for that extra 350 - 400 lbs. It wouldn't be bad owning the TII then you got the extra hp to make up for the weight. I think that if I could I'd pick up a TII instead of doing a TII swap into my vert.
