ronz size: the flooding while it starts

ronz size: if we disconnect the fuel pump til it starts, THEN plug it back in it will stay started

ronz size: otherwise we cant get it to start

Someone got an idea? I'll get more details if needed

Sorry about my drunk cousin.

I have an 88 RX-7 non turbo that is being worked on and has weird symptoms.

When we first got it, it wouldn't start but had spark -- so after some thinking we figured the fuel pump wasn't any good.

Today we figured out it wasn't the fuel pump. If we disconnected the fuel pump we could get it t start for a second and then die, otherwise it'd just crank over and not start.

Finally we got it to start by disconnecting the fuel pump until it started and then plug it back in and then it would stay running. We let it run for a good 15-20 minutes to make sure it wasn't still flooded. Went to start it again and had to do the same to get it started.

It seems like it is flooded when trying to start.

Any ideas??

Thanks in advance,

Ronnie

do a quick search on this, most guys have found a leaking or tuck open injector is the cause for this. Also try a fresh set of plugs

I agree with The Camel. But just to verify, Unplug the fuel pump to shut it down to depressurize the system. Then try to start it up again.
