WELL ..as of right now i'm runnin an '88 stock n/a with no a/c and no power steering (wasn't my choice..bought the car in a freakin hurry ..the guy knew squat about the car's potential!)... IT IS HUMMING LIKE A SATISFIED JOHN!!!I kinda hate to alter it but you know ... WE ARE RX7 OWNERS AND IT IS ARE DUTY TO MODIFY!!!!!..SO HERE WE GO...I WOULD LIKE SOME INPUT ON SWITCHING OUT THE BORLA DUELS...what is a better muffler...the reason why I'm not going to go cat-back is because the y-pipe is there and why pay for another..right?So cheapo me says just the mufflers and get a little better flow going out the *** of the car!!.I have already changed the plugs(went to platinum ngk's) and got new wires..noticed a difference right of the bat 'cause i knew the old wires were **** and were not connecting right at the plugs ...now they do(zoom,zoom)... the air intake system is stock....a suggestion from a previous post said go with k&n filter intake ..I could use a suggestion or two with pictures if possible on how to change over to this ..'cause as I said it is running good and I want a For SURE INSTALLATION..not a tinkertoy .oh crap installation set-up!!AS ALWAYS GUYS, I HONOR YOUR OPINIONS AND SUGGESTIONS...SO FEEL FREE TO REPLY!!! I'M AT YOUR MERCY..JUST DON'T SPANK ME!!!!!

With running a cone filter you have to change out the AFM. I am not sure WHAT is done, but somebody can chime in whoever has done it.

As with changing out the mufflers? Why? Are they performing the duty of being there? Are they rusted? If they don't have these problems, then why change it out? No matter what you do, you will not be able to quite it down that much. A rotary is meant to breath(hell, even any engine is to be honest). You can always put pre-silencers in, change out the cat, but that is about it.

Why do you want to change out the mufflers? I have read that Borla made really good mufflers for the FC's. And welcome to nopistons.com

thanks for replying and it's the bosal mufflers i was inquiring about.. I was assuming that the bosal exhaust is a little restrictive..and to add borla ,apexi,or any other muffler besides what the stock was ,gives the car an increase in horse power...this would be what I am after..a little tweak here and there..no friggin Turbo this or rebuild this or shave this...Simple things...little things..air intake, exhaust flow, add on ignition modification..you know what i mean average joe not rocket scientist kinda things!!!!thanks Dave

If you're talking about the bosal exhaust, I'm guessing you're talking about the stock system right? If you want something good and relatively quiet, look into the Racing Beat system... racingbeat.com

The best sounding and one of the best looking exhausts is the racing beat catback. You say you don't want to go catback since the ypipe is there and all...but these cars are old, and if your using a stock ypipe..you may want to change it out ...i could develop small holes causing it to leak..altering sound and performance. Quality is racingbeat.com... it's not over priced for what you get either...

As far as muffler only options, I suggest taking it to an exhaust shop and talk to the guys to see what mufflers they can do..

I have the Borla exhaust, and I absolutely love it. It sounds awesome, its made of T304 SS, million mile warranty, and it looks really good. Plus its relativly cheap to get now. I paid 500 when they first really came out with it. You can get one now for around 300 to 400 shipped.
