to start, i'm new to the forums & the world of rotaries...so, "Hi"

Moving on, I am looking to buy a 1987 Turbo II here in Denton, TX from a guy who obviously doesn't know what he has.

It is white with a few minor dings on the outside, nothing major. The interior is FLAWLESS. Everything looks showroom fresh except a little dog hair. I mean no fading, cracks, nothing.

Next is the kicker.....59,900 original miles on the odometer.

I'm buying it from him for $4200.

I know that price sounds low, which makes me a little worried...did he roll back the odometer? is there something he's hiding?

Or does he just need to sell the car and doesn't know what he has?

Any thoughts? suggestions? opinions? short essays? Haikus? anybody?

Thanks,

Taylor

the only way he can do that is if he pulled out the speedo cable (which stops the odometer and the reading for your mph).

if it really is that clean, then maybe it is original miles. how is the engine bay? any oil leaks?

rotorheads, what do you guys think about the price?

first of all.. there is a way to return the odometer to any mileage u want.. ive seen it done lots of times when people rebuild their engines for personal reasons...

second of all, the price sounds a little high... but it is good if u say the car is intact.. the only next worry is the condition of the engine and drivetrain

well...the engine bay is clean as far as I could tell.

There's a short shifter of unknown origin that is super tight, but enjoyable. it has clean shifts.

I forgot to mention....the owner previous to this guy installed a Blitz Turbo timer and blow off valve and an APEX'i N1 exhaust.

The clutch is brand new.

Sounds like a deal to me. Any running TII with no rust and that mileage is worth it. It sounds like the car is tip top.

I would do a compression test first before offering. Any mods or all stock??

I've realized that carfax is a waste of money 95% of the time. The cars you don't want are the ones that we're fixed half assed and not reported to the insurance that does not show up on carfax.

Do a compression test just to be safe. If that clears out, then get it. If I had the money, I would get it.

Good luck and welcome to the world of rotaries. Lotta fun to drive. I just got one, and it is still sitting.
