Well, when I got my oil change almost 3k miles ago, I forgot what oil weight they had put in. I believe to my knowledge it was 20-5... I don't really remember, so don't flame me.. lol
Yesterday I was 2 quarts low (eek, lemmie alone :() and the only thing in my garage was 20-50 (I think, maybe I got the two backwards and it's flipped...) anyway... Is that of any harm to have a bit of a mix-match oil weight in the car? I had no other choice as I forgot what walmart put in - and they never put a sticker on my car to tell me what weight they had used at that time... I think when I go get another oil change in about 400miles or so - I'm gonna have to tel them next time.. cause well yeah. |
No harm done

yea varying weights aren't going to kill you.
|
Nah, seriously. As stupid as it may sound, I was only curious... I didn't know if it' harm anything in the engine or not for mix-matched weights.
|
just to try make it a usual habbit, but a once in a lifetime thing isn't going to kill you. What are you doing not changing your own oil.
|
just try to not have walmart change ur oil..
|
that wont do jack...i done that a few times...as long as you dont mix synthetic with non....

tru that. i thought you couldnt mi at all.

It was worse to run your car low by two quarts than to add something of a different weight. Trust me, you don't want to run your engine too low on oil or your oil seals will burn out and then it will burn oil like there's no tomorrow.
