Well, I finally gave out at 3am last night working on the car. Got everything cleaned up again, and put back together, no real signs of improvement. I tightened the exhaust again, so it was at least quieter.

However, today I worked on it some more, and decided that something was still off with timing, it seemed the front rotor wasn't firing at all times. I decided to back around to the other direction. Well, the farther I went on the timing, the more smooth the motor seemed to operate...and less fuel enriched smoke was coming out! I kept playing around with it and decided to pull the spark plugs out, rid the engine of excess fuel(caused by misfiring)...I cleaned all the plugs off, and switched them around...started the car...presto..went right to 2K RPM..I was waiting for it to rise more like it had the other day..but no, it actually stayed at 2K RPM...IDLING, never has my project idled like that..it was so awesome. I got out of the car, walked around, but as I got back around to the driver's door, I heard the motor start to rev up higher, and when I looked at the tach it had rised to 3K RPM...so I turned the car off. Well...this was all good..but now, the car wont restart,lol..I think the battery charger is dead though(portable rechargeable battery pack)...I am recharging it now and will continue to play around with the car tomorrow. ...my question still stands though, why would the RPMs jump up like that?? it's getting better...but I've done all I can think of. I have backed the idle adjuster completely out, so it can in no way be the problem...I do have a custom TB(tb mod, ported, polished, etc)...and a streetported motor...it is somehow managing to still get air to rise up in the RPM range!! Any comments are welcome, and sorry for such a long post.....

I kind of forgot what you said in the other post but have you checked all of the solenoids? BAC, AWS, blah blah.

Well poo!

Is the CAS moving?? What happens if you close the TB all the way? Can you kill the engine? If you kill the engine with is all the way closed and the smallest amount open makes it rev to 3K then it can't be that.

Are the magnets loose inside the CAS? Are the screws tight in there?

Just some ideas.

I am having the same problem.... check for vacuum leaks.

Whoah..jon, you made a post, bout time, lol(Roadkill669). Well, like he said, I have no BAC, AWS, ACV, vacuum spider, EGR, ANYTHING related to emissions. I will double check for vacuum leaks..revvin, is your car revving up, then cutting off? Mine has yet to cut itself off, as I turn the key back and kill it before it gets a chance I guess(nervous about the new engine..dont want it to go from 3K straight to 9K)..

If I close the butterflies completely..the car doesn't die...it still manages to rev up...

Another thing I've noticed is that my OMP still hasnt injected oil...being that my car was idling at 2K for about a minute the other day, shouldnt it have injected some oil??

It should be injecting oil even at idle if my memory serves me right.

I would imagine the OMP should be pumping some oil in there. What year is your car? 89+? Maybe the ECU is being retarded and won't inject it right away?? Sounds like that wouldn't be the case.

If the butterflies are closing all the way and it doesn't die, something is fishy. So you don't think the CAS is inadvertantly moving? How about a bad gasket at the UIM, LIM, or TB? How about the TB black spacer on backwards? Dunno if that will mess it up though. There has to be some air getting in after the TB. Bad block off plate?

Just some more ideas.

Well,

With the new block, I got all new gaskets, everything has a new gasket and is torqued down to spec. It is possible that the bolts holding the magnets in on the CAS are a little loose, and I'll double check them. The black spacer for the TB wouldn't be the problem. Bad blockoff plate might be though...the one I have for the ACV didnt seat right and the gasket could wiggle between the blockoff plate and the LIM..so this may be where some air is getting in. A stud was stripped off in the LIM, so I can't tighten it down much more..maybe I should just JB weld all around the blockoffplate...I'm never putting the ACV back on, so who knows...I'll look into that...

I have checked the CAS movement, and it does move as it should. My car is an '88 SE w/ a '91 GTX block and ECU, so I'm not sure why the OMP is injecting oil, but it has me a little nervous, I'm probably going to pour some oil down each runner of the LIM just to get some oil sloshing around in the chambers...

BTW, i applied some RTV sealant between the ACV blockoffplate gasket and the LIM, cuz I knew that would be a problem..it doesn't wiggle as much now..if at all...
