The engine cuts out under load around 3 to 4 k rpm. I'm going to check the ground first. I'm starting with the easiest.

It's the injectors! Mine did that too... and I spend far too much time chasing my tail on, grounds, tps, tuneups, clogged cats, and the whole time it was my 2nd injectors where bad.
Best way to tell is to swap them... It's a pain in the butt, (The Primarys are under the manifold), but depends what your time is worth.

Dude you joking right? People are replacing injectors all the time. I have had a set of 460cc injectors get clogged (only the 2ndarys) and I bought a set of 550cc turbo injectors that were clogged.
Injectors are electro mechanical and like everything else they fail... The get clogged, the rust from moisure in the fuel, they simply don't last forever.
Injector rebuild/cleaning companys wouldn't exist if injector failing was super rare.
