the senders do that when they go bad. it reads fine and then the circuit gets broken and it drops to e. the sender might just be dirty

Well it works now... UH I think you have about 2-3 gallons still when the needle is on E.. Thats how it was on my other truck.. Just trty this.. Next time you are on "empty" go to the gas station and fill it to the top.. you should get like 12 gallons in there... so do the math.. I think the tank is 15 gallons, since you put in 12.. you had 3 when the needle reached "empty"
