Well, I have been driving the Vert around alot already.. The other day I got 157 miles for 12 gallons of gas.. thats about 13 MPG.. so how do I improve... I was thinking there might be a leaky injector since both times it failed emissions testing, that was one of the possibilities.. I will be replacing the air filter and fuel filter and wires.. as well as cleaning the throttle body and intake.. What else can do to improve the mileage..

relisys190 04-21-2003 12:27 PM

try replacing all those things. than see if your MPG goes up. I had shitty MPG for a while and after all that time it was one faulty injector and a clogged Cat converter https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif

75 Repu 04-21-2003 12:39 PM

I got a new main cat, but the precats are probably screwed.. Maybe some RB Headers will fix that.. Mwuhahahahaha...

relisys190 04-21-2003 12:41 PM

lol, ok Dr Evil. Get that thing running good allready! And DAMNIT! Get the rest of those R32 skyline rims so i can buy your Vert rims Mwuahahahahahah!

75 Repu 04-21-2003 12:49 PM

It runs good, just needs better gas mileage..

Rx7Roadster 04-21-2003 03:18 PM

Try replacing the O2 sensor. Dont buy the Mazda one though cause it is really expensive. Just get a universal one. That should help you milage out.

and keep it under 3800rpm

no ****, the way you drive

Rob x-7 04-21-2003 08:25 PM

I average 20 usually with some traffic driving and some driving

with the A/C on. I did get about 25 once with all highway driving.

oooooohhh That would explain alot.. Actually I have been taking it easy.. The car has a New O2 sensor.. Hmmm.. Maybe if I added stickers all over the place it would increase my horse power and get me better mileage.....

sj17 04-22-2003 10:36 AM

My 88 vert has been getting 13 mpg also. It has a gas smell to it sometimes, is it my injectors?

it might be your pulsation damper, fix it before the car burns down

ChainSawOnSteroids 04-22-2003 01:39 PM

yeai changed the PD on mine it was leaking ,,,but that was a while ago

Rx7Roadster 04-22-2003 03:08 PM

My vert gets shitty milage too. I dont know what it is. Driving around town I will get about 200 miles on a tank of gas. Oh well though.

Also make sure you check your pulsation damper if you smell gas. You dont want an engine fire. There have already been way too many of those.

ultradef 04-22-2003 10:40 PM

My vert also gets **** mileage. I thought it was the streetport that made it such a pig, but I guess I'm not the only one getting 13 mpg. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683664.gif

UniqueTII 04-23-2003 04:28 AM

Geez....the absolute worst mileage I get with my TII is 17mpg, and that's with the hammer down at every opportunity. I wonder if I'm running lean.

89 Rag 04-23-2003 08:31 AM

Fuel economy has never been a strong point of a rotary, I averaged 160 miles per tank of fuel, but the throttle was either on or off.

sj17 04-23-2003 08:42 AM

What is the pulsation dampener? And where is it?

gazellis 04-23-2003 09:49 AM

Is the PD going to leak when the car is turned off sitting still or is it something that you will only see when the car is running and the fuel is under pressure?
