Well?

mazdaspeed7 06-24-2004 05:08 PM

ftp's in

mazdaspeed7 06-24-2004 05:08 PM

ftp's out

Comitatus 06-24-2004 05:10 PM

I would keep em in, unless you had some sort of functionality to keep them out (i.e. cold air)...

But hey, that's just me

CGeek2k 06-24-2004 05:10 PM

I prefer in, as long as they're in good condition. With them out it seems pretty obvious that something is missing.

They have been out for the past few years. Maybe Ill try in for a little while.

The JDMs are nice, and they actually function as a light.

Fluid Dynamics 06-24-2004 08:11 PM

FTPs out would look good if the mount flange for them was cut off and there were air ducts coming off them into the engine bay for an intake inlet and some manifold cooling, but like pictured, it looks like the car is broken. I like them in. It makes the car look like it has eyes.

mazdaspeed7 06-24-2004 08:15 PM

On a black car, you never see the flanges unless youre very close and looking right into them. Check out the pics in my other thread.

I put them in today, and theyre staying for a while. Its a nice change.

BigTurbo74 06-24-2004 11:35 PM

Hmmm. You have given me an idea. Thanks! That could be an option for a cold air intake. Or just a better air intake.

If there was someway you can cut out the edges where the FTP's mount in, it would not look so bad on any colored car. I thought about keeping mine out, since they re really dirty, and need to be cleaned out. Car is Sapphire Blue. Take em out, keep em in?

spooliNrx7 06-25-2004 12:17 AM

I like them in, the front end is noticeably missing something with them out

venomrx7 06-25-2004 07:35 PM

in but tinted. specially on a black car!!!!

89 Rag 06-25-2004 08:07 PM

I like them in, I paid the cost to have brand new one's too, others are right, looks odd with them out.

those JDM ones give off no light, not worth the money

new FTP on a nice black car look hot, I like those to be as-is, no tint

the front marker lights however- I tint

SPD Racing FC 06-26-2004 01:03 PM

venomrx7 06-26-2004 11:22 PM

i like everything black on a car. taillights, blinkers, ftp's, fog lights. black rims, blacked out windows. everything...

like the ****** bat mobile or somethin. I just like cars that way.

nobanger22 06-27-2004 12:31 AM

Leave them in, FC's look like trash without them..

mazdaspeed7 06-27-2004 10:55 AM

last one, i promise

rosey 06-27-2004 07:06 PM

I have mine out, just because there dirty, so I took them out. There useless and I don't like anything on my car that is useless, and hey, you can save about 6ozs!

What does FTP stand for anyway?

mazdaspeed7 06-27-2004 08:00 PM

flash to pass. When your headlights are down and you pull the high beam switch to flash your lights, the headlights shine through those lenses instead of popping up the lights just to flash them.

What happend to your grill and your front lip?

mazdaspeed7 06-27-2004 09:15 PM

I was driving on the interstate to go help one of my friends who broke down(in another rx7, nontheless), and just before I got to him, I hit a trailer fender in the road. It tore the center section of my front end out, shattered the underpan, busted the oil cooler, busted the radiator, and the sudden loss of coolant cooked the coolant seals. And I havent got around to fixing it yet. Its on the list of things to do, and getting very close to the top now though.

75 Repu 06-29-2004 06:04 AM

i have mine out because one was cracked.. so I left them out.. and my car is white too..

STR8_UP 12-17-2004 09:08 PM

leave the pass. side out for function ie. cold air going into engine comp.

not to pick on you specifically but have you ever opened your hood?

look around where this "cold air" would go with say the headlight down...ohh *smack* into the headlight bulb. With it open *smack* into some metal.

i really dont see why people always leave just the one off and act like its ram air.

by the time any of that cold air makes it to the filter its already warmed up and is useless as most of the velocity of it is lost on its trip to actually inside the engine bay.

tint them and the sides a little darker and clean up your ftp's and fogs imo

Shane.Trammell 12-18-2004 09:00 AM

i thought more people liked them out. one of mine was cracked so i took them out, i was also attempting to get more air into my cold air filter. i never put them back on bc i think it looks so much better with them out

Jims5543 12-18-2004 07:33 PM

IN!! I dont like how it looks without them.

Rob x-7 12-19-2004 11:51 AM

no one can convince me that no FTPs look better then new ones https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/cool.png

BigTurbo74 12-19-2004 02:43 PM

Thats on the list of things being fixed before I drive the car again. Along with a little bit of a make-over...
