FTP lens removal

OK, i want to remove my FTP lenses to clean and polish them. 99% of the ones i've seen for sale have the mounting bolts broken and repaired. Is there some special way to remove them without damage?

mine broke,,,lol so i usep 50/50 and its bolted back on like new

Mine too...I didn't even have to unscrew it...it just broke off in my hand.

i wanted more air to the engine so i took mine out and put mesh wire in.it looks alright and gets more air under the hood.
