Distilled when you fill the radiator, buy like 2-3 gallons, you wont even use it all and its like .69 cent a gallon.

And for the block drain: yeah, I saw that, but how do you drain it without it doing all over the place, since that mount is in the way?

Use a large pan to catch the coolant

if you drain the radiator first, it doesnt go everywhere, just almost everwhere.

there's no point in doing it half ass... If you don't feel like draining the block, you should at least get that prestone flush and fill kit and backflush the engine.

if you replace thermostat, be sure to get OEM one, go to mazda. I used an autozone one once and my temp was all over the place, junk.

Most of it will run predictably out the front of the mount. I drained mine in my garage and I only got the floor a little wet. And that was due to carelessness. And, after listening to these guys, I got the Mazda thermostat. The car actually runs cooler.

I heard only oem thermostats are the best.
