Alright heres the deal I bought an 87 TII that had been run up a guide wire and tiped onto its lid so the body is really fucked. The car has a street port motor that has about 90,xxx miles on it and a bunch of other goodies on it like suspension. I fired the car up today after changing the oil and filter and it started right up but smokes really bad. The smoke started to clear after a while but not completly and the car idles at about 3,300rpm. I turned it off cause it was almost dark and I had to go home. This engine suposidly ran well before the acident. What are some reasons the car could idle so high? Does any one think this motor could still be good? any thoughts would be appreciated. It would be easy to drop this motor in my car if its still good but the other route is to put all the parts on a j-spec I have?!?!?! FRUSTRATED!!

90k with a streetport doesn't sound good. How much could you get the car for?

what color is the smoke. if it was white and smelled like burnt anti freeze than the car has a broken coolant seal.

fire up the car, pop the hood, look into the front container, if you see that the container is filling. then that engine is no good, the housing would be toasted by then...

my 91 N/A was idling at 2500 when this process was developing on my car.

If the car was upside down a long period of time.. there's no telling what could be messed up with it.. since it was flipped and all I would definately get a rotary mechanic to check everything out before commiting to buy it..

Hey echo, kraig was gonna try to get ahold of you about that tranny. If you want we can rebuild the engine Since its already ported you can always buy a rebuild kit from racing beat and rebuild it. If you need some help im sure i can help.
