Thanks! It's a one-off custom adaptor made by a guy on 7club.

I'm definitely looking forward to seeing your finished. Ours will somewhat look the same, just different colors.

What lights did you use with your RE bumper? Did you have to make brackets? I'm looking for ideas as I'll need to have things made for mine.

not sure if you can tell but im pretty lazy, i have a monster car in my garage ive been building for 2 years and I'm too lazy to finish that, chances are ill never find the part # lol.

BUT i MIGHT work on my car this sunday, if so ill see what i can determine from the bulb housings.

they look like regular 3 series high and low beam housings, and they fit pretty nicely, expensive tho.

as for the cars, at least now ill have someone to compare numbers with lol, well whenever i finish it. My FD has a T04Z tho and a monster street port, so i'll see what numebrs that one makes, only aiming for 15psi for cruising duties tho

Hehe...now you know the reason why I vow to only have 1 project car! More than one can become quite the chore, thus making a person un-motivated to work on them constantly!

It took me about 2 years to build my setup...so I know what you are going through...but I'm definitely looking forward to seeing yours finished. I definitely envy your paint and ignition setup...oh and your lights! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/cool.gif

You'd be a life saver if you could come up with some info on those lights. The main reason I want them, is because of the fitment...hella 90mm lenses are way too small and leave a good sized gap, and just doesnt look right.

yea, thats why im focusing on getting the fd running right, that way i can send it off for paint and focus on the yellow one. but 2 projects are a handful when theyre your own.

if you want anye xtra details on the ignition let me know, that stuff i have memorized in my head https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif

in all honesty, even with the bmw lenses, there s adecent gap, the reason you dont see it is because the headlight buckets are painted black....thats the reason me and rob decided to do them black.

Yeah...shoot me the ignition info when you get a chance. Right now, I'm only running a single MSD 6AL box on my leading coil. I definitely noticed a good difference, but I'm still a little skeptical to run my current ignition setup with 500+whp.

Are your lights IPF? or are they the 90mm hellas? Did you get the real RE-Amemiya Bumper or a replica from Rotary Extreme?

I know the real bumper came with IPF's and Rotary Extreme's came with the 90mm hellas.

My light buckets will be black as well.

mine is chuck's bumper, the lights came in sealed BMW boxes tho.

I'll send the ignition info over soon, i forgot one part number lol.

joeyfc3s 06-03-2007 07:30 PM

how did you clean up the paint?my quarter panel of my fc looks like it has some oxidation and i dont now how to make it look better, any input will be great thanks[b]

Comitatus 06-03-2007 08:47 PM

Haha...um....I'll use my inside voice!

Just used a air powered polisher...Used a rougher compound to buff away the old crap. Then used a lighter compound to smooth things out. Then just put on a coat of wax.

Other than that...just depends on how bad the paint is.

Good Luck!

teknics 06-04-2007 05:38 PM

Clay Bar works good too, I've used "ICE Liquid Clay Bar" and it made my FD white again after sitting and turning yellowish for 4 years. But nothing beats a good buffer/polisher.

Comitatus 06-09-2007 07:49 PM

Bumper came in today!! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.gif Awesome quality...just have to get some lights, get it mounted and painted.

Kevin, do you have any pics of how your lights are mounted?

Comitatus 06-11-2007 08:45 AM

Took a few minutes to just size it up on the front of my car. I kinda expected it, but I'll need to trim down the inside of the bumper to allow room for my IC. Probably will have to trim about 3-4 inches off.

Here are a few pics...

Now I just gotta find some damn LIGHTS!

teknics 06-11-2007 03:54 PM

the bumper requires a decent amount of work to install. even the original is a pain in the ass, so you can imagine all the work a knockoff requires.

i think the original was mocked up on a wrecked car, cause it wasnt straight

Rob x-7 06-11-2007 08:53 PM

prepare to cut the car to the point of no return!

once you start- your commited!

Comitatus 06-11-2007 11:01 PM

This bumper was made by ShineAuto. It was made from an original RE FC2000 bumper, then Shine prepped each bumper and pretty much eliminated all the imperfections. This bumper has been mounted and fitted by 4-5 people already with no problems whatsoever.

They made an excellent product.

I just need some freaking lights. Any info from you guys would be awesome, and I know many other people that were involved with the GB would be very appreciative as well.

teknics 06-12-2007 12:06 PM

thats amazing then because like i said, the actual original RE frontend, doesnt install without any problems.

the original one requires cutting of the bumper and more, Dragon (dunno if you know him) put a real one on a few cars and said the real one was just a smuch of a bitch as the rotaryextreme one.

guess shineauto couldve redesigned the original, or copied one that was already modified/fitted.

kevin.

Comitatus 06-12-2007 01:57 PM

Here is a link to the GB thread on the other forum:

http://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t=58...ge=32&pp=15

Test Fitment starts on that page (32), post #480.

You'll see they point out the imperfections to the original, they fixed them, then made the mold. Thus making a far superior product.

Pretty cool, IMO.

I also found some lights. Looks like I'll be using the PIAA 510 SMR series. They are 100mm and should fit inside the light housings and look fairly simple to mount.

teknics 06-12-2007 05:11 PM

well cool deal then if they fixed the problem areas.

kevin.

Rob x-7 06-12-2007 06:31 PM

it always helps when someone else did the hard work and you just take it from there, I feel bad for the first bastard that made the bumper, he did all the hard work, just to have multiple copies made after that.

the thing with fitting that bumper is if you dont bolt it up 100% you cannot get the fit right, I made the mistake of having bolts hand tight and clamps holding thongs- dont work that way.

The bumper does not flex like a urethane one would, if its not 100% bolted up, its not going to all fit when you do bolt it up for good.

Thanks for posting up the pics! Those are definitely the 90mm hellas. I was pretty sure that's what the Rotary Extreme kit came with according to their site, but when I heard BMW boxes, it sparked my interest. The brackets look like the ones you can source from rallylights.com as well. It is definitely good to see everything mounted up from behind the bumper. That definitely helps with coming up with some good ideas.

All I can say, is that I was buying this bumper from somewhere no matter what. I got lucky in the fact that ShineAuto created an interest thread, then started a GB. I was fortunate that they took the time to take a product and make it better, rather than just reproducing it in the lacking form.

I'm thankful for all companies that want to improve existing products, especially ones that are hard to come by anymore. If nobody wanted to improve anything, we'd be stuck, going around in circles with the limited parts that are available to us.

ShineAuto makes their body pieces out of FRP, a nice material that is strong and flexible. Here is a pic of a bumper that came right out of the mold.
