jm1fc3319h050123

j = japan

m1 = mazda

fc3 = fc

31= na coupe, 32 is turbo coupe, 51 is vert, 52 is airbag vert

9 = check digit

h= model year, h=86? j = 87 etc

0 = manufacturing plant, 0 is hiroshima, 1 is hofu

5 = number of years body has been made, ie 93 fd is 2, 94 fd is 3, 95 fd is 5, doesnt work for fc too well

0123= build #

Are those build #s for all FCs made in that plant? Or does the TIIs get their own set of #s And the GXLs, Gtus, ect.

as near as i can tell this is how it works.

usa/canada get its numbering, ie jm1fc... and then its unique 501234#

japan is fc3s - 501234.

europe is jmzfc and then like ours.

i think its possible to have a particular number (501234) be 3 different cars.

one is jm1fc33???0501234 in the us

japan got fc3s-501234

and europe got jmzfc33????501234
