It didnt set me back more than $500 at the very most. Only had to buy a few types of bondo, spot putty, fiberglass tape and the fiberglass jelly. Then aton of differnt git sandpapers and some block sanders. Most of it is just the time it took

Yeah I did the work with my dad, I didnt even know how to approach it so all the direction was from him. Im almost about to start helping my brother with his fc. Why is it not a good step for someone looking to duplicate it?

anyone wanting to duplicate the mold filling should just go buy a book on using composites, there are plenty out there and if you are serious about attempting it get some reading material that you can keep on hand.
beware that it's likely the bumper skins will crack around the filling eventually, since the bumper is like tupperware and the glassing you do will end up more brittle and have different thermal expansion properties, it will probably have issues there. but if you get replacement bumper skins that are composite throughout with the trim shaved in the mold they were pulled from, filling in the remaining sheet metal panels should work fine. I think it looks nice except the skirts and wing. |
