what does FB, FC, FD stand for

They don't stand for anything. It's just a couple letters in the VIN. For example, the VIN of the '81-'85 1st gen RX-7 starts with JM1FB33. The '79 to '80 RX-7 starts with SA22C, but that's only in the USA. Everywhere else has SA22C from '79 - '85. Confused yet?



I let someone else explain why the 2nd and 3rd gens use FC and FD respectively, and why there is some confusion between FC3S or FC33 and FB33.
