Well I have my tranny out trying to diagnose a knocking in the clutch. It only happens at idle, or up to 1/4 throttle in gear and it will go away if I press the clutch in about 1/4 of the way. It also sometimes knocks rather deeply on startup.
I just pulled the tranny, and found theres about 1/2cm of space between where the Throwout bearing and clutch fork meet. So basically in the C shaped area of the TO bearing, it looks like it needs to be bent inwards perhaps.
This is all I can find that could make a knock like this. Any suggestions?
TIA,
Geoff

How's the bearing itself? You don't want those parts too tght or else the bearing will bind up on the clutch fork. The little "arms" should be perpendicular to the bearing surface. That's how they usually look new.

my throwout bearing on my GT has been noisy for a while too... squeakes until I push the pedal about 1/4 way in then stops or stops when I get into the throttle while driving... been like that for 16,xxx miles... no longer worry about it. Though it is a bit embarassing when around hot *** girls.. lol I usually hold the clutch in at that time! lol

13bace - thanks, it is perpendicular to the fork surface, I just needed to make sure thats how its supposed to be
I've checked the pilot bearing. To the best of my knowledge, its fine. The seal looks semi crushed, but im not sure that would make too much of a difference.
I forgot to mention, the other day I wound it up high, and above 5,500 it started making the rattling at a fast rate, almost a buzzing. Then something hung because the engine bucked.
Phinsup - You can feel it in the clutch pedal and not in the shifter
I installed an RB 12lb flywheel and ACT clutch back in May, and its been fine until about mid July when the noise started.
The flywheel and clutch seem tight. I dont think its coming from the tranny itself. im completely stuck on this

Forgot to specify that. Its definitely coming from the bellhousing. I had it running and took the inspection plate off, and it seemed to be coming from the clutch area.
So the question is, what could cause a knock like that, and also makes something catch when revved high enough, to make the engine buck.
I thought it might have even been the stsrter teeth not disengaging all the way, and barely hitting the flywheel, or the flywheel coming loose and hitting the edge of something. I just want to know what it is!
