I have an 88 'vert with the factory alarm system... the problem is that its not working. The "security" light will turn on occasionally (when unlocking drivers-side door), but it wont blink or beep, or get triggered by anything. It used to work pretty consistantly, and then it just stopped, instead doing random stuff. I dont think the main alarm module is bad, what are the input sensors. Im assuming that it uses the door-open sensors, and I guess it would need to use sensors on the locks of each door. what else does it connect to?

Also, how can i tell if my car has the "power" passenger door lock thingy?

Thanks

IT might be unplug in driver door and if you put a lock motor in the drive door it should lock the passenger door if there is a motor in that door. but if I was you I would go after market alarm I can fax you a wire diagram for you car I just need the year and a fax number...

Your hood and hatch also are protected. So if there is a problem with one of those pins your alarm wont work.

ok, it seems to work, but only after i open and close the trunk, otherwise it wont arm. Most of the time the security light will illuminate when unlocking the doors (unless i lock them using the inside levers).

Its being very confusing. where could i find a logic diagram for the box, given the outputs ive witnessed, that may tell me where to begin looking.

#1, you need to lock the door with it open and then close it with the handle pulled to keep the doors locked. When you lock the door, the light should come on, when you close it, the light will blink fast for a bit, then start its warning blink every ten seconds or so.

#2, look through the thread I made on exactly this to find the fixes if it doesnt arm.
