Exhuast Defusser Replacement
I have a blown s5 TII housing and an s5 NA housing that I got from Kevin. I got the pins out of both of the housings. When I tried to put the TII defusser into the NA housing it didnt go all the way in. Then I took them and held them side by side and the TII defusser has a little bit bigger lip. Does anyone know how I can make this work?
I'm not sure how you would make it work. I think I would just find another used TII or N/a housing to use. You can buy used ones in good shape from Atkins. I bought a S4 housing for around 120 about a year ago. Looks like you live close, you could probably just drive down there and ask them.
You could either take your die grinder, lots of time and grinding stones and machine down any excess on the TII sleeve, or use an aluminum cutting bit (rotary file, rotary rasp) on your dremel and widen the opening in the housing. With my NA housings, the outer lip of the sleeves sat in a non-water jacket area at the very outer edge of the housing. That area is not a critical structure and could be widened 1-2 mm in diameter with no consequence. The water jacket has all the reinforcement in it for bracing against combustion pressure.
I just changed my NA sleeves to TII sleeves on my S4 engine. I bought two sleeves (used) for $20 shipped from a guy on the evil forum.
