Im looking into picking up either a max speed (2 1/2") or apex (3") exhaust. I would rather pick up the hks turbo dual exhaust but too much $$$. Both are free flowing and no matter it will be a single exhaust out of the passenger rear end w/ no cat. Any suggestions on which exhaust to pick up for better performance?

Thanks,

The FU*#IN% NEW GUY

I forgot to mention along with that since im getting a new exhaust Im gonna pick up the 3" Racing Beat Down Pipe. Good not and how much more power do you think I'll gain?

first of all if your getting full exhaust you will need a racingbeat fuel cut defencer and a manual boost controller would be a good idea. if your getting the 3" RB downpipe like i did . i would get a custom 3" mp made and custom dual exhaust with whatever 3" mufflers you want https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

Boost Controller is next on my list and its only gonna be a single exhaust is that a bad idea? No cat just staright back so it would go RB Downpipe to glasspack to exhaust. Right?

Thanks Vosko

yeah that's fine, just be prepared gonna be soooo freaking loud. my friend has a 88 TII 3" RB dp going to 3" pipe to 3" borla muffler. sounds real good but deafeningly loud! i'm still waiting for my apexi n1 catback to showup....

You could also consider this exhaust from corksport. Sounds good and is a decent price compared to the Apex. Also all stainless steel and 3".

thanks guys. yeah I know its gonna be really loud and im not gonna pass smog legally (sp?) but how much power do u think ill gain? I also like the corksport exhaust but Im getting these mufflers @ a homie discount cause my friend can give me close to their cost of the piece and i only have like $400 to spend right now. The downpipe is $125 and Exhaust is $150 and I need to get my glass pack some flanges and exhaust gaskets plus pay for the installation. So I guess Im already pushing it towards my limit. Id hold out for the corksport but Im already losing a lot of gas from my current stock exhaust (leaking bad).

With the 3" DP and catback, your looking at about another 2-3psi of boost which should give you anywhere from 18 and up, depending on what your other mods are...according to racing beat, their exhaust gives you 59HP...and its a DP, PS, and catback..so I dunno....

Also, warning on that glasspack...you'll be replacing it regularly...they don't hold up against rotary exhaust temps.

The RB exhaust is a great system. If you're going to make a custom exhaust and don't care about noise, then a Borla XR-1 would be ok.

Wait, I'm confused. Are you getting just mufflers and a DP?

Turbo II 04-18-2002 01:19 PM

Just the muffler and the downpipe. Im going w/o the pre cat or the cat. Using a glasspack

Turbo II 04-18-2002 02:30 PM

I guess Ive decided to go with the 3" apex. I ordered it right now for $170 no tax. They have to order it so I'll have it by wednesday and ill do the installation next weekend and let you guys know what happened. I'm kinda down though cause I have my RB downpipe in my lap as I type and was really looking foward to installing everything on sat. Maybe Ill just go buy my old school rims on saturday then.

ummm you have a fuel cut defencer right ??? we don't want you to blow your engine by overboosting. if you don't have one stay off boost till you do...

Turbo II 04-18-2002 04:31 PM

yeah im gonna pick one up from mazdatrix before I install the downpipe and muffler. but thanks for reminding. I wouldnt wanna post here anymore if I blew my motor.

vosko 04-18-2002 08:20 PM

what year TII do you have ?

Turbo II 04-19-2002 12:40 PM

1988 w/ 60,000 miles on a rebuilt engine - u? Do you have any advice on what i can put into it to further my performance?

Thanks
